WorkRite e-learning and training solutionsWorkRite, Posturite’s specialist e-learning and training division, is enjoying a record year. Turnover is up by almost 90% over the corresponding period in 2010, with several major new contracts in the bag.

These include the company’s biggest ever deal for its market-leading AssessRite DSE training and assessment package which has been licensed by a multinational energy company to be rolled out to more than 12,500 users in 24 different countries.

WorkRite has had to translate the software into a number of different languages including Arabic, Hindi and Gujarati.

National sales manager Ryan Church said: “On its own, this was a fantastic deal for us. But coming on top of several other major contract wins over this year, it means that we are yet again out-performing the market by a considerable distance.

“This is the fifth year in succession that we have seen big turnover increases, though never quite as large as this year. There’s no doubt that all the hard work we put into developing our products and services in the early stages is now paying off.

“Our powerful and intuitive management system, in particular, is a significant factor in winning business for us. Health and safety professionals love it because it makes their lives so much easier.”

Posturite, the UK’s leading provider of ergonomic solutions for the workplace, has been awarded the ISO 27001 international quality standard for its information security management system (ISMS).

The award recognises the company’s achievements in successfully managing all sensitive corporate information so that it remains secure and confidential while being readily available to those with the relevant rights.

Information Systems & Software Manager Chris Jones said:

“Information security is not just about anti-virus software, implementing the latest firewall or locking down our laptops or web servers. The overall approach to information security needs to be strategic as well as operational, and different security initiatives have to be prioritised, integrated and cross-referenced to ensure overall effectiveness.”

Posturite, the UK’s leading provider of ergonomic furniture and accessories for the workplace, has rebuilt its website (www.posturite.co.uk) to give it a cleaner, more modern appearance and make it easier for people to browse, buy goods and find information online.

The new-look site, launched this month, is part of a two-year collaboration with Brighton University’s School of Mathematical and Information Sciences.

The key aims have been to make shopping online even easier and to provide customers with more comprehensive information on Posturite’s products and services.

More straightforward site navigation, useful product filters and an ‘add to shortlist’ feature that allows customers to save products for later purchase are among the many enhancements.

Customers are also able to navigate from the home page to relevant product categories based on areas of particular interest or concern such as back pain, work space or productivity issues.

The product pages themselves have also been greatly enhanced with more detailed information and better viewing galleries. And there are lots of hints and tips to make product selection easier.

Payment has also been made simpler, with a fast and secure one-page checkout and a full range of credit and debit card facilities handled by Sagepay.

Posturite CEO Ian Fletcher-Price said: “In recent years there has been a rising need to focus on user experience in website design. We are confident that our new website will satisfy this need and provide an easy to use, one-stop shop for our customers.

“Everything is now in place to allow customers to find the information and products they need speedily and easily. Even if they don’t know much about ergonomics, there’s enough advice and guidance on the site to give them a very good idea of the sort of products they might need to solve a particular problem.”

Workrite Provides A Welsh Language Option

or

NAWR CHI’N GALLU CAEL ASSESSRITE YN Y GYMRAEG

WorkRite has become the first national provider of workplace health and safety training to make its online learning courses available in the Welsh language.

The company, a division of ergonomics industry market leader Posturite, produces the AssessRite software which is used by scores of Britain’s leading companies to train and assess staff in the safe use of display screen equipment.

AssessRite is already produced in five languages – English, French, German, Spanish and Italian – and Welsh has now been added as a sixth option.

WorkRite’s other e-learning courses, covering a wide range of health and safety issues such as fire awareness, stress management, manual handling and hazardous substances, can also be produced in Welsh on request.

David Kirtley, who leads a 15-strong team of account manager and support executives working in Wales, said: “We recognise the importance of making it possible for people to do their online training in their preferred language. And for many in Wales, that is Welsh.”

E-learning offers companies the most cost-effective and convenient way to meet their health and safety training obligations. Economical leasing packages mean that it can cost as little as £4 per person per year for training.

WorkRite has established a reputation as being one of the great innovators in health and safety training.

Any of its standard programs can be adapted and personalised to meet a company’s specific needs, and unique bespoke courses written and produced on almost any subject.

The company also carries out a year-round itinerary of face-to-face training courses across the country, either in companies’ own premises or in convenient locations arranged by WorkRite.

Posturite’s new EvacuRite™ evacuation chair is already proving a winner… with company accountants as much as health and safety professionals. For although the EvacuRite™ is packed with the sort of special features normally only found in evacuation chairs at the top end of the market, its £795 (ex-VAT) price tag puts it squarely in the economy class.

The company is also offering a 25% discount on all EvacuRite™ chairs ordered before the end of September, making it even more exceptional value for money at just £597.

Posturite’s designers, renowned for their expertise in developing products to make the working environment safer and more comfortable, consulted fire industry experts to ensure the EvacuRite™ chair met rigorous standards for ease, comfort and safety of use in emergency situations.

Its features give equal recognition to the health and safety needs of the operator as well as the person needing to be transported down stairs.

Posturite sells hundreds of evacuation chairs each year to businesses keen to ensure they fully meet the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. This puts the onus on organisations to take ‘reasonable steps’ to ensure that everyone on their premises, or nearby, can escape in an emergency.

The EvacuRite’s™  easy-to-operate, rapid-deploy system means the chair can be ready for use within seconds of being removed from its supplied wall-mounted storage bracket. No lifting is required by the operator either in preparing the chair for use or in making the evacuation. An ultra-smooth glide track system ensures a safe and comfortable passage down stairs.

The EvacuRite™ comes with a five year guarantee. Full training in the use of evacuation chairs can also be provided by WorkRite, Posturite’s health and safety consultancy, e-learning and training division which is one of the country’s leading independent providers of HSE-approved First Aid at Work courses.

With ‘upper limb disorders’ often attributed to the use of VDU’s and other display screen equipment, organisations can potentially achieve real financial benefits through the correct implementation of a DSE risk assessment strategy. Not only do the assessments reduce the likelihood of injury in the workplace, and the associated sickness and compensation claims, employees are healthier and more productive.

There are a number of ways that DSE assessment can be carried out, including both formal assessment and through the use of ergonomics software solutions. Ergo Journal recently attended the Safety and Health Exposition and Facilities Show in Birmingham, England, and interviewed Ryan Church of Workrite -  a provider of Ergonomics Software solutions, in order to understand their views on the benefits of using ergonomics software.
